As a pop-obsessed teenager, I loved listening to the New York radio station 103.5 KTU.  On that station in early 2001, I heard an extremely rare extended version of “Nobody Wants to Be Lonely”. The song was a global top-ten hit duet, featuring the soaring voices of the budding diva Christina Aguilera and Latin heartthrob Ricky Martin.

Here, I’ve tried to recreate the sound of that original radio-only recording. It didn’t take very long at all to produce this extended version of the international midtempo ballad. Working on it also brought back a lot of fond memories from half a lifetime ago.

Song written and composed by Desmond Child, Victoria Shaw & Gary Burr.
Produced and arranged by Walter Afanasieff.

Vocals by Christina Aguilera & Ricky Martin
Original version released on January 9, 2001

Remixed by Melissa Treglia (as “KM”) on September 9, 2018
